Map is good; Routes bad
Gary Walters write:
Ver 3.1-the incidents and map load quickly. Per the update notes there is some improvement in the incidents uploading quicker. However, the app still remains nearly useless as the gps doesn't follow as you drive. The routing address input is too limited. It won't access your address book. And when you input a specific address it almost never accepts it.
Update2: the routing does not take into account the traffic, I asked for a route from Orange Co to downtown LA. With red freeways everywhere, the app still suggests taking the 5 fwy which it claims is 1hr 7 min drive. Way off. The other optional routes don't reflect the traffic either. Worthless.
Update1: The gps is satisfactory, although the app does not follow you as you drive along. I had to repeatedly hit the gps locate icon to renew my position. Even then, it doesn't pinpoint where you are very well.
The traffic incident data is finally updating.
The color coded traffic flow mapping is accurate and updates.
The 3 optional routes are the same as the Inrix app. The difference is, to get those with Inrix you have to subscribe. Here, it appears to be a one time cost.
I still give underperforming marks for not not displaying the route on the map, stability issues, and address input limitations. I also don't know if the app is contributing my gps data to traffic providers to help with accurate flow maps.
Original review:The app does have lots of traffic info. However, it doesn't accept specific addresses. I have to enter "Los Angeles, CA" to get routes from my current location to what ends up being 100 W 1st St, Los Angeles CA 90013. But I'll bet if I start from my location in LA it'll be specific, then I can bookmark it.
The app doesn't show you the suggested route on the map, yet it does offer three options to your destination.
Very good route planner
The route planning feature is awesome. In most cases it provides 3 or more accurate routes based on the current traffic. All on all it's well done, great interface and easy to use. Highly recommended.
New version is actually much improved!
